Adventures in the Desert

Like the pyramids of interesting spices loaded across the sphere, subject to formed by the dream of the wind, the cumin- and cinnamon-colored sands of the Desert of Dubai have long attracted courageous explorers.

Have you ever thought about leaving the dull roads and hustle life of the city, feel adventurous and take a desert safari in Dubai to see what’s out there!  Dubai desert is great for adventures. It is such a fun journey to take with friends or family, that gives you a great chance to explore the adventure in the desert.

Modern-day Dubai might look like an ultramodern space-age city, but it's the cosmic Arabian Desert that feels like another planet. No trip to the UAE is complete until you see this supernatural scenery for yourself, so we've gathered some of the most popular ways to experience it.

A dune bashing safari followed by an evening feast of BBQ at a desert camp is the most popular day outing in Dubai. Most trips start approximately 3pm and the drive from your hotel in the desert in an air-conditioned 4WD is only about 45 minutes.

After a thrilling session of bashing and bumping over the sand dunes, twisting over peaks and plummeting down steep slopes, you'll come ashore for optional sand boarding or a quad bike riding before one of the pictorial highlights of your tour: the sun setting over the beautiful desert of Dubai.
When darkness comes down you'll head to the camp and be meeting up with traditional Arabian coffee and sweet sticky dates before sitting down to an appetizing barbeque buffet. After a stunning belly dancing show, and the chance to get a henna decoration and buy souvenirs, you'll also settle down for the night (if you've chosen the desert safari option) or be driven back to your hotel. Most trips last about six hours.

Many operators in Dubai offer this tour, so the best bet is to ask over a reference from your hotel, or look into some of the leading companies such as “Dubai Desert Safari”, or book in advance with Virgin Holidays.
